Assam is a predominantly rural State with more than 80% of its population living in the rural areas. At the same time, it is also among the fastest developing State economies of the country. It’s human resource base predominantly comes from its hinterland, as the case with its economy driven primarily by agriculture. It is in the light of this that the role of a college in a rural area becomes very important. Accordingly, Dhamdhama Anchalik College has a very important role to play in contributing towards the growth of the Baksa district and Nalbari district of Assam as a whole. It cannot merely confine itself to education but must contribute to the creation of human resources who are capable of critical thinking and commitment to the growth of their motherland. This, I feel, will be our role as we look forward to the years ahead of us. The New Education Policy 2020 talks of holistic education. In the light of this, teachers, students, and the society must join hands to contribute to the growth of real and value-based education if we are to realize our dream of becoming Viswa Guru as envisioned by Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It will be our responsibility to facilitate this qualitative change in our approach in the years to come.
